Term 4 Connected Learning
This term, our learning question is: How did the Romans Impact Britain?
Through our Connected Learning, we will be looking at volcanoes but through History and the events that unfolded in Pompeii. We will also look at Roman Civilisation and how many of their ways of life are still used today. We will be building on our knowledge and understanding of Living Things and their Habitats in our Science lessons; recognising that living things can be grouped in a variety of ways, exploring and using classification keys and identifying and naming a variety of living things in our local and wider environment. As part of our Art, we will be exploring and recreating art in the style of photomontage, in addition looking at artists such as Hannah Hock and David Hockney. In English, we will be reading 'Escape from Pompeii' by Christina Balit, where we will be writing from the point of view of one of the children in the story. We are also reading 'Volcano' by Maria Gill where we will be learning about how structure and presentation contribute to meaning and retrieving and recording information from non-fiction. In Maths, We will be finishing our unit on Length and Perimeter and then moving on to Fractions. We will continue to build on and learn to recall our times tables mentally. Finally, in RE, we will be learning about Salvation, where we will focus on the question 'Why do Christians remeber the events of Holy Week every year?'
