 Term 2 Curriculum

This term, Reception will enjoy exploring the story I’m Going to Eat This Ant! by Chris Naylor-Ballesteros, using it as inspiration for developing early writing skills, including words and simple captions.

In Maths, children will continue to build their counting and subitising skills, explore numbers within and beyond 5, identify equal and unequal groups, and begin to make links between quantities and numerals.

Through our Little Wandle phonics programme, supported by Cued Articulation, children will continue learning new sounds and applying them in their reading and writing.

In RE, we will learn about Christianity and the Nativity story, while in PSED we will focus on relationships, friendship and kindness. We will also explore Remembrance Day, learn about different minibeasts and discover how and why Christians celebrate Christmas.

Home Learning

Please try to read at least three times per week and write in the reading record diary. Your child has a 'Treasure Book' that you can share together (your child is not expected to be able to read this alone) and a reading book which they have read three times at school and should also be reading at home. The aim is they should be reading this book fluently by the time they return it to school on a Wednesday.
